Review:

This coffee was brilliant to cup and brew. At first I could smell malts and even the gunny in which the coffee may have been kept in for a while. On tasting, it had notes of chocolate nibs, barley and wheat malts. The aftertaste is nutty like roasted almond with a cream like finish. This is a surprising dark roast which has a complex structure than expected. I found a slight sourness running in the background which kicks in during the finish with the nutty notes at the back of your tongue. Overall, I see this coffee to be one of their underrated coffees because of the pre-existing apprehension of the market towards dark roasted coffees.

Best for: French Press, Mokapot

Worst for: Pourover

Keep reducing the grind size till you get the right amount of acidity to complement the bitterness

Brew a faux espresso with an AeroPress to make an affogato


Final verdict: One of the best dark roasts in the market. Should buy if you are into this roast profile.

Method: Inverted Aeropress

22 gms coffee

220 ml water @85°C

Pour 44 ml water slowly

Stir it well to ensure all the coffee is wet

At 30 seconds, pour the rest of the water by the 55 second mark

Stir 3 times

Begin pressing gently at 1 min 30 seconds

Plunge for 45 seconds

Target brew time of 2 min 15 seconds

Stir coffee once before drinking
